THE TOWN OF WESTON, lies in Middlesex County just west of Boston with a population of just over 11,000 as of 2010. It is among the nation’s 100 most expensive zip codes with a median home price of well over $2 million.
The town was incorporated in 1713 and is part of a rugged landscape with limited farmlands available to famers in that time. With the opening of the Worcester turnpike in 1810, the townspeople turned to the boot and shoe industry and the manufacturing of cotton and wool.
In the early part of 1900s, the Weston Aqueduct and Reservoir and the Hultman Aqueduct were built to bring the Quabbin Reservoir water into Boston. Nearby in Weston, the Boston residents continued to build big, beautiful, architectural designed homes.
Today, residents are very proud of the town's school system, 24/7 police patrol, and the handsome homes in quiet, well-kept neighborhoods, but tend to brush off the town's reputation as one of the most affluent communities in the state. Weston has carefully retained significant amounts of open space and maintains over 60 miles of hiking and horseback riding trails, playgrounds, ball fields, golf courses and cross-country skiing areas.
