THE TOWN OF WELLESLEY, is a city in Norfolk County, Massachusetts and is part of the Greater Boston area. Wellesley is best known as the home of Wellesley College and Babson College. It has the 5th highest median household and family incomes in all of Massachusetts and is one of the most expensive zip codes in the United States. Wellesley is also known for possessing the second greatest concentration of residents with advanced educational degrees on the country.
The residents of Wellesley takes pride in its active participation in Green Power, natural resources protection and ongoing initiatives to reduce waste and increase recycling. Wellesley’s Municipal Light Plant introduced the Voluntary Renewable Energy program in which its residents, businesses and colleges voluntarily pay a premium to purchase electricity generated by wind power.
Their green initiative operates through its Wellesley Green Schools Program where in 2006 its new high school includes a green vegetated roof, geothermal heating and cooling, solar panels and rainwater recovery systems.
Wellesley offers a rich culture with its yearly Wonderful Weekend celebration with a spectacular fireworks show, the Wellesley Symphony Orchestra presenting classical, pops and family concerts, and notable horticulture throughout its local estates and on the Wellesley College Campus.
It offers rail service through the MBTA and has several major interstate highways running through its town giving its commuter easy access into nearby Boston.
